Building on Success
Xavier University’s Digital Innovation, Film & Television (DIFT) program continued to shine in 2025, earning national recognition and celebrating a year marked by creative achievement, alumni support, and investment in the future.
For the third consecutive year, the Broadcast Education Association ranked Xavier’s DIFT program among the nation’s best—affirming the program’s growing reputation for excellence in hands-on media education.

More success followed when four DIFT students were recognized by the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), and Xavier captured both Audience Choice Awards at the 2025 College Movie Festival — an impressive sweep that reflects the strength of the program’s storytelling and production values.
“The continued recognition of our program underscores our commitment to hands-on learning, innovation, and storytelling excellence,” said Blis Devault, director of the DIFT program.

That momentum extended beyond awards. During March Gladness, the DIFT program raised a record-breaking $30,000, thanks to nearly 200 alumni, parents, and donors.
The support made it possible to purchase new 4K field cameras and contribute once again to The Endowment for Digital Innovation (TEDI)—a vital investment in the program’s long-term growth.
“Our program is built on the promise of excellence in digital media production,” Devault said. “The Film and TV Center is where Xavier students sharpen the skills of their profession.”

Recent facility upgrades reflect that commitment. Two years ago, Xavier replaced its longtime studio lighting—some fixtures dating back nearly 70 years—with Elation KL Panel full-spectrum LED lights, optimized for modern film and television production and industry-standard white-light requirements. And last year, new 4K field cameras and RF lenses with a move to mirrorless technology.
Each year, Xavier’s DIFT program has climbed in national rankings, and alumni support during March Gladness has grown right alongside it—clear signs of a program gaining momentum on every front.
“The continued success of Xavier’s Digital Innovation, Film and Television program depends on sustaining this level of support,” Devault added. “With future investments needed in 4K switchers, field and studio cameras, and auxiliary equipment, alumni and donors play a critical role in ensuring DIFT students have access to the tools that prepare them to succeed.”
This year’s March Gladness Campaign will work to raise 50K plus to upgrade 3 studio cameras that were purchased in 2010 and some required equipment for the control room. Funding over the 50K mark will be added to the TEDI endowment fund.
